My guys took me out to see a movie in April. Our first one all year: The Forbidden Kingdom.

It is PG-13. I recall hearing a couple of swear words in the whole movie and featured drinking. (Drunken Monkey style.)

It is The Karate Kid meets The Wizard of Oz, meets The Neverending Story, meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Which you would think was an odd mix, but it worked and fun to watch It has very nice martial arts eye candy. A “Kick Flick” to say the least. The fight scenes were a nice mix of martial arts with fun magic wire work thrown in.

Jackie Chan, who just turned 54 on the 7th of April, still does amazing scenes that are funny and Jet Li, who just turned 45 on the 26th of April, is still super fast.

It’s a your basic boy with bullies on an adventure/learning martial arts growing into manhood type of story. It was a funny, cute, pretty clean story and we really enjoyed it. I love the training sessions because it is so cliche (cause it’s a lot of what we do), but they add some funny comedy to it too.

It was a fun sit back, relax and enjoy the story for 113 minutes.

So I know I am pretty old fashioned on a lot of things. I was an “old” sort of person even before I got “old.” Case in point: Settling down at the ripe old age of 18 more than a decade ago. But honestly…what is with the holiday music?

I’ve been listening to the radio. Something I don’t do a lot of, but I thought I’d listen to some holiday music. I must have heard at least a half a dozen versions each of:

White Christmas
Silver Bells
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
The Little Drummer Boy

Most of which were horrible. Everyone has to put their own spin on it to make it different. Talk and sing it. Rock it up. Warble/Waver every note. Give me the classics. Sing it the way we’re all used to hearing it. Bring on Bing Crosby, Anne Murray, and the late and the greats. Play me the traditional holiday songs, done in that old classic style, and call me old fashioned.

Its a lot of fun and a screen saver too. Give it a try and lose track of time.

The idea is you breed fish. The goal is to find the 7 “magic fish”. I just like making a pretty fish tank on my monitor. You sell fish for money and buy more things for your fish tank. Spend money to research so you can keep your rarer fish alive or sell fish better.

It runs in real time so when I leave a school of baby fish over night and exit. I wake up and load up the program to find a school of adult fish swimming around.
